Did you know that in 1411 there were already ‘Halls’ in Kortrijk? It was called the Cloth Hall and was located on the Grand Place. The old Cloth Hall had a commercial function in the Middle Ages. When this Cloth Hall became too small, the Grote Hallen was built on the current Schouwburgplein. During the Second World War, in the summer of 1944, the Great Halls were bombed. In 1948 the city council decided to demolish the historic building completely and not to restore it. As a result, there was now no place for exhibitions.

In 1966, the City of Kortrijk started the construction of a new exhibition complex in Kortrijk-Zuid at the future exit of the planned freeway, the current E17. In April 1967 hall 1 was opened by then prime minister Paul Van den Boeynants. The new complex had a hall, three meeting rooms, a café, a restaurant and a ballroom. Hall 4 was originally a dark and low space, which was replaced in 2005 by a new one with double the surface area of 8,000 m², making it the largest hall of the existing exhibition halls. Hall 4 was connected to the other existing halls by the start of what was to become a central axis between the halls: the Rambla. This Rambla is a concept by Christian Kieckens.

On the first of September 2007 Gruzenberg was baptized Kortrijk Expo Meeting Center. This created a logic and link between Kortrijk Expo and Kortrijk Expo Meeting Center.
In 2009 the Master Plan was implemented. This plan was necessary to expand the fair complex for large fairs such as Busworld, Interieur or MatExpo.
